The Literary & Scientific Institute will host the launch of the latest book written by human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith. Titled “The Far Side of the Moon: Trials of my Father,” Clive’s third book covers the parallel lives of his father Dick and one of his death row clients, Larry Lonchar. Both struggled with Bipolar Disorder, though neither got treatment: Dick because he would not accept it, thinking it would destroy the frequent “highs” of his life; Larry because the Georgia Department of Corrections did not want to medicate his periodic depressions, because it was then that he would attempt to take his own life “by Electric Chair.”
Thursday 22nd September, 6pm - 8pm
Doors open at 6pm at the LSi, 51 East Street, Bridport, DT6 3JX.
Admission is £5 including a drink.
