The speakers

Joey Clarkson: Take control of your social media

Joey Clarkson is an accomplished singer-songwriter, voice over artist, video producer, content creator and social media manager and coach.

From the early stages of her career, it was clear that social media would be a powerful tool to help elevate her music, and create opportunities for her within the music industry. Little did she know that this would be the start of a whole new endeavor for her, as her passion for helping other artists and small businesses like herself grow turned into a focus outside of her music. By 2016, social media management, content creation and coaching had become a large part of her working life.

Since then, Joey has worked as a social media manager and/or coach for organizations such as The Americana Music Association UK, the We Write Songs community, Wessex Tubas and Brass, and country music artists including Tara Henton and Becky Lawrence. She is currently gearing up for an exciting year of monthly workshops with Bridport LSi and Lyme Bay Ladies, to help empower women in business to feel more confident and comfortable online.

Lisa Eastwood: Why is networking important?

Living by the sea near Lyme Regis, Lisa is an entrepreneur, wife, mother of 3, cancer survivor and wild swimmer.

In 2015 she founded local community group – Lyme Bay Ladies (LBL). The vision of LBL was to bring local ladies together for friendship, networking and to support local independent business and it has now grown to over 3,000 members.

Originally from the highly pressurised corporate world Lisa now enjoys a portfolio of income streams that fit around sea swimming, networking and walking Monty the dog.

Rachel Dunford: I am not a designer (tackling my imposter)

Rachel has built her career in Dorset working with charities and businesses that connect with or have a positive impact on the community. Dorset Visual Arts, The Arts Development Company and Artsreach are some of the organisations she has worked for that endeavour to do this.

For the past four years she has been a designer for Crowdfunder and last year, took on the role as the manager of the LSi, Bridport. In 2020 she organised the first Female Makers Market, a platform which aims to promote, empower and connect the talented female makers working in Dorset.

Issy Walker: The power of crowdfunding

Issy has worked in marketing for the past five years, with a background in the charitable sector. Having worked for Crowdfunder for the past year she is passionate about ensuring that local businesses and good causes get the funding they need to thrive.

Issy is also a member of Toastmasters, an international public speaking club, and delivers workshops to young people on building confidence through speaking and has given talks for the NHS on mental health.
